East of Eden just changed my life

Apparently John Steinbeck said that everything else he wrote was practice for this book. Steinbeck is Steinbeck and he wrote East of Eden in his typical slow, un-hurried fashion, with the detailed descriptions that resemble long, un-ryming poems than anything. It was also probably the most perverse works of fiction I have ever read. Perverse in a deeper sense, like it makes you feel sick...
